Russian strike on Dnipro wounds at least 14, damages two apartment buildings

Friday, May 22, 2026-A Russian strike on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro has left at least 14 people wounded and caused significant damage to two apartment buildings, according to local authorities.

Emergency services rushed to the scene as fires broke out and rescue teams worked through rubble in search of survivors. The attack adds to a growing pattern of intensified strikes on urban areas in Ukraine, where civilian infrastructure continues to bear the brunt of the conflict.

Officials say the strike hit densely populated neighborhoods, leaving residents displaced and multiple homes destroyed or severely damaged. Power outages were also reported in parts of the city as emergency crews worked to stabilize the area.

Ukrainian authorities condemned the attack, describing it as another example of deliberate targeting of civilian zones, while urging international partners to accelerate air defense support.

The incident comes amid a broader escalation of long-range strikes across Ukraine, with cities far from the front lines increasingly coming under fire.

As the war continues, pressure is mounting on allies to strengthen defensive systems and humanitarian aid, while civilians in affected regions face mounting uncertainty and repeated disruption to daily life.
