Fire at warehouse in Brussels suburb brought under control

Saturday, June 6, 2026- A large warehouse fire in a suburb of Brussels has been brought under control after a rapid and coordinated emergency response from local fire and rescue teams.

Thick smoke was seen rising from the industrial site earlier in the day, prompting immediate evacuation measures in surrounding areas as firefighters worked to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby facilities. Authorities confirmed that containment efforts were prioritized to limit structural damage and protect nearby residential zones.

Emergency crews deployed multiple units to the scene, using sustained water and foam operations to suppress the flames. Traffic in surrounding roads was temporarily restricted as a safety precaution, while residents were advised to stay indoors due to smoke concerns.

Early reports indicate that while the fire caused significant damage to parts of the warehouse, the swift response helped prevent a wider industrial incident. No confirmed casualties have been reported at this stage.

Officials have since launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire, with early assessments suggesting it remains unclear whether it was accidental or linked to equipment failure.

The site is currently under inspection as cooling operations continue and structural safety is evaluated. Authorities have emphasized the importance of strict industrial safety compliance, as attention now shifts from emergency response to recovery and accountability.
