Sunday, September 27, 2026 - At least four people have been killed in Russian strikes across Ukraine as Moscow and Kyiv continued a heavy exchange of drone attacks.
Ukrainian officials said three people were killed in the Zaporizhzhia region and another person died in Kyiv during overnight attacks that continued into Sunday. Ukrainian authorities reported that Russia launched around 170 drones overnight, with air defences intercepting or suppressing most of them.
At the same time, Ukrainian long-range drones struck Russia's southern Krasnodar region, where local authorities reported three deaths and two injuries.
The attacks triggered fires at industrial facilities, while Ukraine's military said it had targeted the Ilsky oil refinery. The claims about the targets and damage were reported by the respective sides and could not all be independently verified.
The latest strikes underline the continuing intensity of the aerial war, with civilian areas and critical infrastructure repeatedly coming under attack.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia had launched more than 2,200 drones against Ukraine during the week, alongside missiles and aerial bombs, while both sides continued to report strikes on military and industrial targets.
